Vision & Mission
Vision:
The Department of Samhita Sanskrit and Siddhanta envisions becoming a leading center of excellence in Ayurvedic education and research, where classical knowledge of Ayurveda, including its foundational texts, history, philosophy, and Sanskrit language, is taught with dedication and precision. Our goal is to produce well-rounded Ayurvedic professionals who are deeply rooted in traditional wisdom while embracing modern scientific methods for the advancement of Ayurveda. Through our efforts, we aim to preserve the rich heritage of Ayurveda and expand its applications in the contemporary world.
Mission:
The mission of the Department is to provide comprehensive education and in-depth knowledge in the foundational aspects of Ayurveda. This includes the study of classical Sanskrit texts, Ayurvedic history and philosophy (Darsana), and the exploration of the core principles of Ayurveda through a scientific lens. By fostering an academic environment that values both traditional wisdom and modern research methodologies, we aim to contribute to the validation, refinement, and application of Ayurvedic principles.
Our core objectives include:
- Comprehensive Education: Offering a curriculum that spans the classical texts, philosophy, and scientific principles of Ayurveda, with an emphasis on Sanskrit as the key to understanding ancient manuscripts.
- Scientific Validation: Engaging in fundamental research to explore, test, and validate Ayurvedic concepts and practices through scientific methods.
- Interdisciplinary Knowledge: Integrating Ayurveda with quantum mechanics, as seen in Ayurveda Darsana, to encourage a holistic and progressive approach to both ancient and modern scientific paradigms.
- Global Contribution: Advancing the global recognition of Ayurveda as a scientific, holistic, and sustainable approach to health and wellness.
Academic Structure
The Department covers five key subjects throughout the undergraduate curriculum, ensuring a strong foundation in Ayurvedic principles, classical literature, and Sanskrit:
- Sanskrit – Essential for the comprehension of Ayurvedic texts, the study of Sanskrit allows students to directly interpret ancient scriptures, texts, and commentaries, fostering a deeper understanding of Ayurvedic principles.
- Padartha Vidnyana – This subject delves into the core concepts and terminology of Ayurveda, facilitating a strong understanding of the basic categories of knowledge necessary for Ayurvedic practice.
- Samhita Adhyayana-1 – In the first year, students begin their study of classical Ayurvedic literature, focusing on foundational texts that explain the essential theories and practices of Ayurveda.
- Samhita Adhyayana-2 – The second year continues the study of classical texts, expanding into more complex texts that detail Ayurvedic treatment methodologies and specific principles for diagnosis and therapy.
- Samhita Adhyayana-3 – The final year brings a deeper exploration of Ayurvedic texts, refining students’ analytical skills and understanding of the application of Ayurveda in practice.
These subjects constitute a significant portion of the Ayurvedic curriculum, laying a strong intellectual and philosophical foundation for students as they continue their studies in more specialized areas of Ayurveda. Through this integrated approach, the Department ensures that students are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and research capabilities to excel in the field.
