Vision & Mission

Vision:
The Department of Kriya Sharira at Ashtamgam Ayurveda Vidyapeedham envisions becoming a leading institution in the integrated study of human physiology, bridging modern medical sciences and traditional Ayurvedic knowledge. Our vision is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the normal functioning of the human body, equipping them with the expertise required to address physiological imbalances and disorders effectively. We aim to cultivate future Ayurvedic practitioners who are well-versed in both modern physiology and Ayurvedic principles, fostering holistic approaches to health and healing.

Mission:
The mission of the Department of Kriya Sharira is to offer a rigorous academic environment where students can deeply explore the human body’s functions from both an Ayurvedic and modern physiological perspective. By combining the two systems, we aim to provide an integrated and comprehensive understanding of human physiology. Our goal is to ensure that students grasp the foundational principles of Ayurveda in relation to the body’s normal functioning, preparing them to identify and treat abnormalities with precision and confidence in their future clinical practice.

Key objectives of the department include:

  1. Integrated Learning: To provide students with a thorough understanding of both modern physiology and Ayurvedic principles, bridging the gap between the two fields for a more complete medical education.
  2. Practical Knowledge: To develop students’ ability to apply their understanding of human physiology in clinical practice, ensuring they can recognize and address abnormalities based on a deep understanding of normal physiological functions.
  3. Holistic Health Approach: To instill in students the significance of maintaining physiological balance in promoting overall health, while preparing them to effectively handle imbalances or abnormalities.
  4. Hands-on Learning: To provide students with practical exposure to physiology through lab work, models, and demonstrative sessions, reinforcing theoretical knowledge through experience.
  5. Interactive Learning: To conduct small group learning sessions and seminars that encourage a deeper, more personalized understanding of human physiology, fostering a collaborative academic environment.

Department Overview

The Department of Kriya Sharira at Ashtamgam Ayurveda Vidyapeedham offers a holistic and comprehensive approach to the study of human physiology through an integration of modern medical physiology and Ayurvedic principles. The department emphasizes understanding how and why the human body functions the way it does, preparing students to apply their knowledge in real-world clinical settings.

The core areas of focus within Kriya Sharira include:

  1. Modern Physiology: A detailed study of human body systems such as the digestive, excretory, respiratory, circulatory, and nervous systems, with a focus on functional anatomy and mechanisms of action.
  2. Ayurvedic Physiology: In-depth study of Ayurvedic principles and concepts such as the Tridosha (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), Saptadhatu (seven tissues), and Agni (digestive fire), and how they explain the physiological functions of the body.
  3. Functional Integration: The integration of both modern and Ayurvedic views on physiology, providing students with a comprehensive framework to understand the body’s processes from both perspectives.
  4. Practical Application: Enabling students to use their understanding of physiology to diagnose and treat imbalances in the body through Ayurvedic methods and therapies.
